The Eerie Folktales Behind Iceland’s Natural Wonders
As part of a school project, I chose to illustrate four folktales based on different locations in Iceland. The places I chose are: Reynisfjara, Vik Drangey Island Dimmuborgir Völvuleidi, Hólmanes The stories talk about trolls who turned to stone at the break of dawn, demons that convinced hunters to jump off of cliffs, witches who protected villages even in death and Gryla and her 13 children(the Yule lads) who kidnapped and ate “bad” children around Christmas time.
